As an SEO specialist, I always wondered how this process works. Seeing that the tactics I applied on myself actually worked made me happy.

In this article, I will explain in detail how I gained a Knowledge Panel without a Wikipedia page, using only my own website and digital assets, and what steps I took to achieve it.

Knowledge Panel Result1. It All Started with Consistency

Google uses an entity-based algorithm to make sense of all the data in the world. And its favorite thing is consistency. That’s exactly what I did:

  • I used exactly the same bio everywhere I could create a profile: LinkedIn, SoundCloud, Medium, YouTube, Merchant Center, guest author pages, you name it.
  • Even though I don’t sell products, I filled out the Merchant Center business information section in detail.

The bio I used:

Tolunay Togul – SEO specialist and digital marketing consultant.
Specializing in search engine optimization (SEO), he helps websites increase their organic traffic and assists brands in becoming more visible in the digital world.

This answered Google’s questions in one go: “Who is this person? What does he do? Where is he present?”

2. Being Active on Google’s Own Platforms

One of the most overlooked points by many SEO professionals:

➡️ Google gives privileged treatment to data on its own platforms.

  • 🔹 I created a YouTube channel and added the exact same bio in the channel description.
  • 🔹 I opened a Google Merchant Center account. Even though I don’t sell products, Merchant Center is a powerful data source for being registered as an entity.
  • 🔹 Instead of Google Business Profile, I optimized all Google profiles I could create for my personal brand.

3. Entity Engineering on My Website

When designing my website, I structured every area with a focus on strengthening my entity signals:

  • About Me Page
Title: Who is Tolunay Togul? – SEO & Organic Digital Growth
Direct answer to Google’s question: “Who is this person? What is his expertise?”
  • Homepage Anchor Link
On my homepage, I added an internal link to my homepage itself with the anchor text “SEO specialist Tolunay Togul”. This served both internal linking and entity signaling purposes.
  • Footer Link
I created an internal link in the footer visible on every page, with the anchor text “SEO specialist Tolunay Togul.”

4. Embedding Messages in Image Optimization

Google doesn’t just look at text; it also considers image metadata and filenames.

🖌️ My Site Logo:

From the filename to the ALT text, I used the phrase “Tolunay Togul SEO specialist” everywhere.

I also embedded this message in my social media profile images. For example, my LinkedIn banner included the phrase “SEO & Organic Growth.”

5. Sending Clear Signals to Google with Structured Data (Schema.org)

I gave the same message to Google not only in content but also in the code:

  • I created an Organization schema on the homepage.
  • On my author page (“/author/admin/”), I wrote the same bio in the meta description and schema description.
  • On websites where I was a guest author (e.g. Batuhan Durmaz), I used the sameAs property to define my social media profiles and website.

My verified profiles included:

6. Guest Posting & Reciprocal Entity Signals

I didn’t just do this on my own site; I also engaged in mutual guest posting with other SEO professionals:

🔄 Example:
I wrote a guest post on Batuhan Durmaz’s site and used the same bio there. In return, I featured him as a guest on my own site. This reciprocal entity relationship sent Google the message:

“These people are in the same industry, know each other, and validate each other.”

7. The Knowledge Panel Result

And the result:

  • Now when you search my name on Google, a Knowledge Panel appears on the right side.
  • ✅ My expertise as an SEO specialist is clearly defined.
  • ✅ My click-through rates have increased, and my personal brand credibility has skyrocketed.

Final Thoughts: SEO Is Like Chess

This process taught me once again:

🧠 SEO is not just about keyword rankings. SEO is entity engineering. It’s personal branding. It’s consistency.

If you want to win a Knowledge Panel today:

  • Provide clear answers to Google’s questions.
  • Be consistent across all platforms.
  • Complete your schema, sameAs, and organization data fully.
